We are trudging through the last of the weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Nothing is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t turn on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters every 30 days. If you do not, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but confirm the power switch next to the heating system is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at 303-647-5853 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
